There has been a long debate about the use of replays in football. I believe that the decisions balance themselves out and that this might interrupt the game too much unless there are strict guidelines on its use. Maybe the managers could have a set number of “queries” on decisions (similar to tennis). That’s for another post and not something I want to get into here or now.

Neither of these clubs is “my team”, and my team is also far from innocent when it comes to players diving. We’ve had a few in the past and I have been shocked that they have done it and gotten away with it.

I’d like to see UEFA and all Football Associations around the globe banning and fining players who have dived during a game, if it leads to a goal or not. Maybe this would make players think twice before going to ground so easily.

Here is a clip of the incident that prompted me to write this post. What do you think?

UPDATE: Apparently UEFA are investigating the incident: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8223917.stm

Headlights on Full Beam

I visited friends over the weekend just gone, and the journey was spent mostly on the M4 Motorway. I am shocked at how many drivers feel the need to put their cars lights on the strongest/brightest setting that they can.

When they are behind me their lights then shine directly into my wing mirrors and my rear view mirror causing me to be dazzled. If I can drive without them on then so can everyone else!

By all means turn them on when there is no other traffic around!

It’s Snowing in South West London!

UPDATE: I took these photos last night for two reasons. Firstly I wanted to put something on my blog about the amazing snow we were/are having in London and secondly because I wanted to try posting from my iPhone. The above photos were taken on the iPhone from my car, so the quality isn’t great!! But here are some from today. Incidentally, I was unable to go to work today because of the snow!!

Drivers

With increased regularity recently, I have seen cars turning left or right and then coming to a stop at the traffic lights that they see immediately upon turning.

These lights are meant for the vehicles that would be going straight over the junction and not for those turning into that road.

It had been suggested to me that this is a rule in another country, but it was unclear to which country or countries this rule belongs. It doesn’t exist in the UK, so unless there are pedestrians in the road or other obstacles stopping you, please continue on you way!

UPDATE: I looked online for a reference to The Highway Code, but was unable to find anything about this.

My First Post

The title sounds a little like something from Fisher Price, but this is actually my first blog post.

I’m sure I’m not alone in having difficulty with deciding what to put in my first post, so I figured I write whatever first came into my head at the time… hence this!

So what will future posts be about? Well, anything that I think of really. I’ll be posting interesting links that I come across and also writing posts that include useful information about tasks that I perform regularly both at work and at home, as a means of making it easier to keep a record of this information. Well that’s it for now!

See ya!
